"Exploring form, surface design and alternative firing techniques."
My practice is rooted in an intuitive, process-led approach to making, where forms are not pre-determined but emerge through direct engagement with the material. Working primarily with coil building, I allow the clay to lead, responding to its movement, resistance, and possibilities as each piece develops. Forms are continually altered and amended during the build, embracing uncertainty and change as essential parts of the process.
Each hole and cavity is carved by hand, creating richly textured surfaces that record time, touch, and repeated gestures. These marks are integral to the form, emphasising the physicality of the making and the dialogue between control and spontaneity. Through this approach, my practice explores balance, imperfection, and the quiet tension between intention and instinct.
