"Hand thrown functional stoneware pots and bowls"
I have come to ceramics from 35 years as a wood turner and sculptor, and work from my home studio at Escot Park, in East Devon.
My first wood workshop was next door to the Leach pottery in Muchelney where I drew considerable inspiration on the philosophy and discipline of clay – which has stayed rooted with me and is now reflected in my ceramic work.
I am self taught, and hand throw on a kick wheel, using a local stoneware clay, producing decorative, functional table and kitchenware, and one off pieces reflecting a subtle Japanese influence.
As a fledgling potter, I am currently enjoying exploring the alchemy of ash glazes and rhythm of the wheel.
