There is alchemy and not knowing in working with clay that I really enjoy and magic that the surface can be made containing through the ash

from my wood fire.

I like that no matter how much planning and consideration there is, there is always surprise. 

I work with found clay where I can.

I recall a potter saying that he didn’t make items to have a purpose but that was the decision of the owner. I like to think that items I make continue on a journey, new narratives being created.
