Kim’s practice until recently has combined handbuilt expressive pieces and wheel-thrown
functional forms. Expression born out of play and finding joy in making.

However, lately the focus has shifted to more thoughtful narrative pieces, exploring politics,
landscape and memory. Imprinting into very thin sheets of porcelain, using a typewriter and
carved stoneware to leave behind surface details that become more evident in the light.
