Organic form shaped through touch and time.
I am a South Devon–based sculptor working from my studio near the River Dart, creating stone ceramic sculpture inspired by the natural world. My practice is rooted in close observation of organic form — the curve of a hillside, the smoothness of a river-worn pebble, the subtle asymmetry found in shells and weathered landscapes.
I began carving stone in 2015 at Sculptworks on the Dartington Estate and have since developed an intuitive approach through direct carving, allowing the material to guide the evolving form. The resulting pieces are abstract and biomorphic, shaped by a dialogue between hand and material.
I create hand-built ceramic sculpture, exploring texture, light and tactility. Influenced by wabi-sabi philosophy, I embrace imperfection and natural processes, incorporating techniques such as kurinuki and saggar firing.
My work invites a slower engagement — encouraging touch, contemplation and a deeper connection with organic form.
