Helen designs and builds functional table-ware, each piece is formed from high quality white earthenware using a combination of techniques including; hand-throwing on a potters wheel and building from slabs of clay. Finally the pots are fired with a transparent high-gloss glaze making them practical for everyday use with food or drink. Inspiration for the shapes come from many places including; modern Architecture, sailboats and the shape and geology of the coastline. The way an object looks and feels to hold and to use are important considerations to Helen, when making a functional object; “The challenge is to keep within the confines of functional practicality whilst still exploring innovative shapes for design.” Her ultimate aim is to make tableware that you will enjoy using.
