"Wildly creative"
Georgi Gilpin (BA Hons WMPC 3D Design) tends towards hand building with occasional thrown or slip cast functional and sculptural ceramics. She has a town centre studio at The Mansion in Totnes. Working with stoneware black or stoneware terracotta clay bodies creating organic shapes with nature inspired glazes. She is a outdoors loving woman and is inspired by the contour lines on OS maps to create her tableware, the dishes stack into one another creating contours and lines unique to each selection. She has created her own range of glazes which are added to throughout each season, these then allow for stand alone pieces or a collection of complimentary colours. She is interested in exploring the balance between sculptural and functional wares which is seen best in her “wild find” jugs which come in a number of sizes from tiny milk jugs with small drift wood or clay handles to huge flagons with sculptural torn clay handles or driftwood handles. These can be used for beverages or flower arrangements. She is an inquisitive maker and always has a new project underway.
