"I mostly create animal and sea life"

I hold workshops every Tuesday at The Shed in Chelston, Torquay focusing on hand building. I mostly create animal and sea life, ranging from an owl on a wall to a commissioned Dodo! Sea life includes crabs, octopi, and coral reefs. My animal head range includes a fox, a hare, a tiger, a sea otter, and an elephant. I’m currently making a series of chameleons to be wall hung. I also use Kanthal wire as whiskers, as well as being used as a minor former, eg to strengthen a leg joint.

I started ceramics after a 40 year career as a hotel manager, mostly in the West Country, but decided it was time to focus on something I have always wanted to continue, having taken Pottery ‘O’ level back in 1976, and having not touched a piece of clay until attending Ben Benjamin’s classes in 2018 at The Shed/Chelston Workshops.
