"I hope that my pieces bring as much joy to other people as they do to me"
My love affair with clay started in the year 2000 when I registered for a pottery course at the Somerset College of Art and Technology.
The first large piece I made was of a hare and I have continued making hares and other animals and birds ever since. My involvement with wildlife sanctuaries and my volunteering work with The Exmoor Pony Centre have allowed me to observe some of my subjects at close range. In the case of an otter, a little bit too close!
My sculptures are all handbuilt from stoneware clay using coiling, pinching and slabs. I use underglazes, oxides and stains to achieve the colouring before firing to 1230 degrees.
I hope that my pieces bring as much joy to other people as they do to me during the making.
