"Work is mainly thrown and for domestic use"

Making pots has been the antidote to life’s stresses and challenges, balancing out a career in mental health, and the ups and downs of family life, in the quiet space between the feel of the clay and the spin of the wheel.

My work is mainly thrown and for domestic use. There can be nothing more satisfying than eating and drinking out of pots you have made yourself. I use stoneware clay, smooth or grogged, fired in an electric kiln. I have also worked in porcelain to make smaller ornamental pieces. I have had no formal training but have had a go at most things through self-learning, day courses and evening classes, and have valued the WCP studio visits, actual and online.

I love retreating to the pottery I have created in part of the garage, with a window out to the garden, and inviting friends and family to have a go is part of the fun! I have inspired others, including our daughter, to take it further.

I am happy to take personal commissions.
