Elsie Thomas

"Thrown stoneware and decorative pieces"

Elsie studied ceramics in the late 60s early 70s at Burnley School of Art, led by Harold Thornton, and then at Stoke College of Art with tutors including Derek Emms and Geoffrey Whiting. She taught at Bradford College of Art and exhibited throughout the UK. Having retired from consultancy in education development overseas, most recently in Africa, Elsie is currently working from a studio in the Forest of Dean, Nuthatch Pottery. Work includes thrown stoneware and decorative pieces, using mostly traditional clays and glazes, inspired by local natural forms of the forest.
