Porcelain and stoneware vessels, with inspirations mainly drawn from my surroundings and memories of and love of the sea

From my studio on our small farm in the middle of Devon I predominantly work with porcelain and stoneware using mainly hand building and wheel throwing techniques. I generally fire in an electric kiln but also smoke fire in a barrel, sometimes utilising redundant equipment from the farm. I work with porcelain to hand build thin vessels and also stoneware thrown on the wheel for the smoke firing.

My influences and inspirations are mainly drawn from my surroundings, the view of Dartmoor being the most influential. I forage plant based materials to use for mark marking on porcelain vessels or to use within the smoke firing.

Born on the South Devon coast, I often draw on my memories of and my love of the sea to inspire my work and is particularly apparent within my abstract porcelain vessels.
