Bella Barker Hall (Bella BH Makes)
Creating and learning about pottery has become a restorative journey, rekindling my artistic identity and restoring some balance to my world.
I’m a self taught potter working from home in West Cornwall, alongside co-running a business with my husband.
I’m best known for my cat themed ceramics. These vesels add a sense of playfulness and colour to a space. I enjoy making contemporary layered slip decorated earthenware, these stylized pieces are colourful and bright, each one unique. Like all my work, these are functional but can equally be enjoyed as decorative art.
My pottery is hand-built and wheel-thrown, using both earthenware and stoneware clays. I have a love of surface decoration and use coloured slip, oxides, glazes, printing techniques and sgraffito.
My work is available at: Sharon McSwiney, St Ives, Red Pottery & Gallery, Redruth & Inspire Makers, Falmouth. I sell at local arts and crafts markets and have exhibited with Cornwall Potters Collective in two group shows in St Ives this past year.
