I’m a ceramic artist specializing in sgraffito, inspired by Cornwall’s rich flora, fauna, and breathtaking landscapes. My work is deeply rooted in this region’s natural beauty and folklore, which infuses every piece I create.
Creating my pieces begins with immersing myself in Cornwall’s history, rugged coastlines, rolling hills, and coastal villages—sketching plants, observing animals, and soaking in the landscapes. These sketches form the foundation for my designs, resulting in textured, detailed artworks of Cornwall’s beauty and tidal tales.
My primary medium, sgraffito ceramics, allows me to carve detailed designs into clay, revealing contrasting layers beneath. This technique involves a meticulous process that captures the delicate interplay between light and shadow. It’s a process that requires patience and precision, but it’s incredibly rewarding to see the final image emerge.
