Jane Alexander

I am a Devon-based ceramic artist specialising in raku pottery, drawn to its immediacy, unpredictability and expressive surface qualities. My work explores the balance between control and chance, using smoke, flame and reduction to create distinctive crackles and markings. Each piece is hand-thrown on the wheel and individually fired, embracing the spontaneity that makes raku so unique. Inspired by natural textures and organic forms, I aim to create vessels that feel both grounded and quietly dramatic.
