Delicate ceramic forms inspired by the fragility and decay of nature

I completed a BA (Hons) in Craft and Material Practices at Arts University Plymouth in 2024. My multidisciplinary work explores themes of ageing and decay, reflecting on the transient nature of human existence. Living matter shapes my design process, with the intention to capture the natural world in a state of transformation. I use home-grown or found materials to work with as much as possible and can often be found collecting the dead heads of a plant that others may overlook. The plant matter is arrested through the application of porcelain slip followed by firing, which burns away the organic matter to reveal a delicate ceramic shell.
