Shirley Emmerson

I am a ceramic and vintage textile artist.

I work with porcelain and crank clays. I love the translucence of porcelain and the no nonsense sculpting qualities of crank.

I use various printing techniques on porcelain which I then add to my sculptures. I also make printed porcelain plaques which I stitch into a vintage textile frame and join together to form a box, these are finished with a Netsuke and bead. They are inspired by Antique Japanese Sagemono and Netsuke.
