5th & 26th of September 2026 at Eeles Pottery, Mosterton, Beaminster Dorset DT8 3HN
My Raku Firing Experience Day is a thorough and fun introduction to decorating and firing unique Raku pottery, 10am to 5pm.
The art of Raku firing is Japanese style of pottery which originated in the 16th century. The practice is characterised by the removal of the pots from the kiln at the height of the firing, 1000 degrees centigrade, placing them into flaming sawdust or a smoking tin to creating a vibrant and eye-catching finish.
On the day you will decorate two pots and choose between four different raku techniques; copper fumed raku, naked raku, glazed raku & horse hair raku. You will then have the opportunity to get hands on and fire these expertly thrown pots using the fine art of Raku, choosing between placing them in sawdust or a smoking tin to create your distinct pot.
