KILN TOPSHAM TO OPEN ITS DOORS THIS MAY
A new pottery studio, deli and coffee shop rooted in craft, food and community
A new independent venture is set to open in Topsham this spring, bringing together handmade pottery, seasonal food, and a relaxed coffee shop experience under one roof.
Kiln Topsham, founded by Ryan and Kate, will officially open on Friday 1st May 2026, offering a unique space that blends a working pottery studio with a deli and coffee shop focused on quality, simplicity, and local connection.
At the heart of Kiln is Kate’s handmade pottery, created in small batches using natural glazes and traditional techniques. Each piece is designed to be both functional and beautiful, with a rustic, understated aesthetic inspired by the surrounding Devon landscape. Customers will be able to purchase pottery in-store, commission bespoke pieces, and soon book onto a programme of workshops and classes.
Alongside the studio, Kiln will serve speciality coffee, simple seasonal food, and deli-style offerings, designed to be enjoyed in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The focus is on thoughtful sourcing, fresh ingredients, and a menu that changes with the seasons.
In addition to the shop, Kiln will also operate Kiln Catering, offering private chef services and event catering across Devon. From intimate dinners to larger celebrations, the catering arm reflects the same ethos as the café — seasonal, ingredient-led food with a strong emphasis on presentation and experience.
Located in the heart of Topsham, Kiln aims to become a space where people can slow down, connect, and enjoy well-made food and objects. The founders hope it will feel as much like a community hub as it does a place to eat and shop.
“We’ve created Kiln to be a space that feels warm, relaxed and considered,” says Kate. “Somewhere people can enjoy good coffee, simple food, and handmade pieces that are designed to be used every day.”
