We have been made aware of two opportunities by differing organisations who are offering bursaries, listed below.

The Leach pottery St Ives – The Potter’s beginnings

Do you know a local young person (18-25 years old) who would love to receive a fully funded, year-long pottery course?

The Potter’s Beginnings is a course that offers an unmissable chance for a young person within a 20-minute drive of The Leach Pottery, to embark on a new opportunity or build on an existing love and appreciation for ceramics and clay. The course will run from January 2025 to November 2025.

A bursary of £2,100 will cover 100% of the course fees for one young person, who may not normally be able to invest in such an opportunity. Although this is not an absolute requirement, financial circumstances (including caring responsibilities, recipient of Universal Credit) and educational opportunities, will guide who the place is offered to.

Whilst experience isn’t required, ‘The Potter’s Beginnings’ is the ideal course for a maker who has the desire to commit their time and passion to learn how to throw.

Coombe Farm Studios – The Mud Bursary

THE MUD BURSARY is for 1 x person to attend our production throwing course for one year starting on 14th January 2025.

We are aware that the cost of our production throwing course could be a barrier to attendance. We are therefore delighted to announce that we have secured funding for 1 x place on the course starting in January 2025.

The place is for someone who genuinely cannot afford a place on this course, and who does not benefit from financial support from family, partner or significant other that could fund them to take part.

It is a unique opportunity and covers the full cost of your place on the course – attendance is on a weekly basis on Tuesdays from January through to December 2025, with break weeks as per the course schedule.

Please note there is no public transport to and/from Coombe so if you don’t drive or don’t have access to a car you would need to arrange alternative transport/your own lifts/car share.
