100 mugs – Your invitation to get involved!
Your invitation to get involved in the opening of the Create CIC pottery at the Create Contemporary Crafts Hub in Camborne!
Our official opening is 3-6pm on Saturday 7 September 2024 and we’ll hope you’ll come and celebrate with us. We will be showcasing our beautiful new pottery with separate glaze, plaster and kiln rooms. In the pursuit of making ceramics accessible to all and keeping the craft alive and accessible for the people of Cornwall we are running a fundraiser to coincide with the opening.
We are asking for artists, potters and ceramicists to support us by donating a handmade mug to include in our opening event raffle. We want this to be an inclusive event, so your mugs will sit alongside mugs made by our members and course participants, including children and community group members. To ensure everyone has an equal chance of receiving any of the mugs on display each will be assigned a random number between one and a hundred. Each ticket will be a minimum donation of £20. We have already received confirmation of donations from Kate Malone M.B.E and Linda Bloomfield and are looking forward to receiving many more!
Through this fundraiser we aim to raise £2000 to help us to ensure that anyone, especially children and young people, have the opportunity to use these wonderful new facilities. The money raised will fund after school pottery classes for 20 children from the highly deprived town of Camborne imparting skills and inspiration to the next generation of potters. We know the impact including your work will have on those young potters and keen amateurs. To see their work on display alongside yours will elevate and inspire them, and the money we raise will allow us to pass on those skills and that passion. If you feel you would like to support us we would love to display your mug and invite you to our opening. If you could let us know whether you’re donating a mug (or mugs) by Monday 26th August and have them delivered to us by Monday 2nd September. Due to the summer holidays and the opening of the new pottery our opening hours aren’t standard at the moment, so if you’re wishing to deliver on a day other than Monday 2nd September (when we’ll be there 10am to 8pm) please contact us either on my email angela@createcic.co.uk or phone 07703 151851.
