"Earthenware garden pots and country-themed kitchenware"
I make terracotta earthenware garden pots and country-themed kitchenware thrown on the wheel. I use clay slips for decorating the greenware before bisque-firing the pots. The biscuit-ware is then glost-fired under a range of clear transparent or multiple layers of dark honey and opaque-white tin glazes. By varying the application of slips, glazes and final glaze firing temperatures, I can achieve a range of colours and often randomly crazed or crackle-type glazed effects. It is the unpredictable nature of the simple processes involved that adds an appeal for me as I am never quite sure just what I’ll find when I open the kiln door! As well as making, I offer teaching workshops for individuals and small groups at competitive prices.
